thou shalt not offend

As the following video clip shows, in the new Supreme Court session it is expected that the justices will be making decisions that touch on many of the causes that are important to me (religion, firearms, campaign finance…).

A cross is covered up with plywood

An offensive sight to Christians

And freedom of expression, something that would seem to be sacred based on our history and Bill of Rights, is under heavy attack. One of the most difficult things about limiting the freedoms of individual citizens is deciding where the lines that cannot be crossed will be drawn. But why are we working so hard to limit our Consitutionally-assured rights at all?

It’s amazing how complicated the Bill of Rights have become. Actually, I must correct myself. What is complicated is trying to figure out how our court system will interpret our rights. The rights themselves are clear and simple and we’ve spent two centuries chipping away at them while manufacturing other rights that have not been ratified by the States.

A major part of allowing people to have some freedom to exercise the rights that are spelled out in our Constitution is that you have to accept behavior that is offensive to you. But now we have arrived at a state where we are bending over backwards trying to protect each individual from taking offense to any thing. This is CRAZY!

It really is too bad that our nation is flooded with so many lawyers that they have to manufacture cases based on nonsense in order to keep themselves employed. It’s even worse that their nonsense suits are not thrown out of court — instead they’re even taken seriously enough to be considered by the Supreme Court while we have to fight to get cases heard on re-establishing our right to self-defense! Disgraceful…
